SheetSim–SHOTS Simulator Training Workshop
Printing Industries of America
Sewickley, Pennsylvania
Description :
The SheetSim–SHOTS training simulator is a highly interactive software program that simulates the experience of operating a sheetfed offset press (two unit and six unit), where any changes to the press are reflected in the simulated print copy. This session teaches companies and schools how to use it to teach press personnel to recognize, analyze, and correct print problems.
With two modes of operation (perfect or problem mode), SheetSim—SHOTS can teach apprentices and new press operators the skills and techniques of running a press, while experienced press operators can sharpen their skills and extend their existing knowledge.
SheetSim—SHOTS is used to show people how printing works—to make them appreciate the fragile equilibrium that produces quality printing. The main users of simulators are printing companies and schools, but they can also be used by suppliers and training organizations.
Using SheetSim—SHOTS simulators, “pressruns” can be pre-defined, in which sets of problems will occur over time ; e.g., color and register at makeready, chemistry and density modifications during the run, etc. As the operators deal with these problems, all of their actions and the results and costs of these actions are tracked on the computer.
Also available through Printing Industries of America is the WebSim—Heatset web offset simulator. For details, please contact Dillon Mooney at 1-800-910-4283 x786 or by email.
